ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

OUR CLIMATE-SUPPORTING INITIATIVES

OUR CLIMATE COMMITMENT

At MICRO-TECH, protecting the environment is more than a goal or a target we want to hit – it’s an integral part of our mindset. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in every area of our operations: from developing innovative medical technologies, to implementing resource-efficient processes in production and logistics. Through continuous improvement and responsible decision-making, we are working hard every day to reduce our environmental footprint and help to create a future worth living in. Our goal is to develop solutions that don’t just support and work for our customers, but also our shared environment – with lasting and measurable impact.

CERTIFICATIONS

We are ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 13485 (Quality Management for Medical Devices) certified, highlighting our ongoing commitment to environmental protection, product safety, and responsible business conduct. Our certification under these standards confirms that we continuously monitor, optimise, and align our processes with both environmental and regulatory requirements.

CAR POLICY

To further enhance sustainability at the company, we have introduced a new company car policy. It recommends a maximum speed of 130 km/h (approx. 81 mph) on motorways for a long-term reduction in fuel consumption and carbon-equivalent emissions. We are also steadily expanding our use of electric vehicles: We already offer electric vehicles in all vehicle categories, and have set a target to switch entirely to electric vehicles by 2030.

A CIRCULAR HEALTHCARE SECTOR

We are working on an important sustainability project to promote the circular economy in the healthcare sector. This shows our commitment to increasing the reuse of resources and reducing waste across our industry.

CALCULATING ENERGY CONSUMPTION

We use the NRW Eco-Cockpit tool provided by the NRW State Agency for Nature, Environment and Climate (LANUK) to accurately measure our energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. The data acquired provides a solid foundation to develop targeted measures to reduce our carbon footprint and further advance our company’s sustainability strategy.

SUSTAINABILITY EXPERTISE

Through targeted training, we continue to enhance our in-house sustainability expertise. A number of employees receive support to gain further sustainability-related qualifications. This allows them to better understand environmental and climate-specific contexts and relationships, and develop effective approaches to reduce our emissions.

SUSTAINABILITY PERFORMANCE

Our sustainability performance is regularly evaluated by EcoVadis, an internationally recognised platform that assesses environmental, social, and ethical standards. This allows us to create transparency and identify specific opportunities for continuous improvement efforts.
