BUZZING FOR THE FUTURE

SUPPORTING BIODIVERSITY

A HOME FOR HONEYBEES

Bees are an essential part of our ecosystem. As pollinators, they ensure the diversity of plant life, while also playing a key role in global food production. Without bees, we would have less fruit, vegetables, and much less biodiversity. Protecting bees is a shared responsibility, and we are proud to play our part.

As of February 2025, we have had beehives installed at our Dusseldorf site – now home to around 300,000 bees. These bees pollinate plants within a 10-kilometre radius, helping to support biodiversity, prevent soil erosion, and help support natural carbon regulation.

SMALL FLYERS, BIG IMPACT

Around 80% of indigenous wild and cultivated plants depend on pollination by insects – especially bees. Without them, many varieties of fruit, types of vegetables, and different nuts and their trees wouldn’t exist – or only in much reduced quantities. As pollinators, bees contribute billions to agricultural production worldwide. This makes them indispensable, highly valuable contributors to our ecosystem and the overall economy.

On top of all this, bees also play a role as a particularly sensitive early warning system for environmental changes. A decline in their populations can be indicative of serious environmental concerns, such as an excessive use of pesticides, the erosion of natural habitats, or the consequences of climate change.

PERFECT LOCATION

Working together with experienced beekeepers, we identified the ideal spot for the hives and learned a lot about bee behaviour.

OUR BEEHIVES

Our company premises are now home to five beehives, comfortably settled in a quiet, green corner on the property. At first, there were 80,000 bees buzzing around, but by summer the colony had grown to an impressive 300,000.

HARVESTING HONEY

Honey is harvested in spring and summer. The hives are temporarily relocated to a sheltered location for this process, allowing experts to carefully extract the honey.

OUR OWN HONEY

To produce 500 grams of honey, honey bees make around 40,000 trips – covering a total distance of roughly 120,000 kilometres. A wonderful reminder of how much dedication goes into every jar.

SEE THE BEES

Our bees are a living symbol for all that we are striving for: the harmonious coexistence of business and nature.

Stay tuned – soon you’ll be able to observe the little helpers buzzing around for yourself!
